On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of Lee Broom's studio, the designer presented a wonderful marble clock.

If you have read our previous blog posts, you must already know that we admire Lee Broom’s exquisite approach to marble. Once again, this super-talented designer has wowed us with his Time Machine grandfather clock. On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of his studio he presented in Milan design week this wonderful marble clock. Made from a monolithic block of Carrara Marble and with a unique mechanism of solid polished brass, this imposing object will be produced in a limited-edition run of 10 pieces, representing the 10 years Broom's studio has been around – and each clock will feature a plaque noting the edition number.

"I've always wanted to design a grandfather clock," said the designer. "My grandparents had one in their home and I was always fascinated by its majestic appearance and its intricate mechanisms."

"It was important for me to create something contemporary that was very opposite to the traditionalism usually associated with grandfather clocks, so I started to look at a more modernist silhouette, creating very faceted angles and straight lines, similar to that of brutalist architecture."
